Launcher sign-in

The device-code flow, and how to manage or revoke launcher devices.

The launcher never asks for your password. It uses a device code: the launcher shows you a short code, and you approve it from a browser that is already signed in.

Signing in

  1. In Cyrene Launcher, start the sign-in. It shows an eight-character code such as A1B2-C3D4 and opens this site.
  2. The page it opens is /activate?code=…. If it doesn't open automatically, go there yourself and paste the code.
  3. Sign in to the website if you are not already.
  4. Check the device shown — hostname, launcher version, OS — and Approve only if it is yours.
  5. The launcher picks up the approval within a few seconds.

Codes expire after 10 minutes. If yours has, start again from the launcher.

Managing devices

Every approved launcher gets its own token. The Launcher devices card on your profile page lists the active ones with the time each was last used, and revokes any of them. A revoked device has to go through the sign-in again.

Signing in also refreshes what the site knows about you — launcher version, OS, and an online marker that lasts ten minutes past the last heartbeat.

When it is required

  • Local server: required.
  • Online server: optional, but it is what links your launcher to your Cyrene account.

If sign-in fails behind a VPN, enable TUN mode in your proxy application.
